Man injured in Cobblestone area drive-by shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) was dispatched to the 3000 block area of Cobblewood Lane West in reference to a report of gunshots fired at around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday.

While officers were in the area searching, another off-duty officer at Memorial Hospital reported to dispatchers that a Hispanic male was at the hospital and had been shot in his left side on Cobblewood Lane West.

The victim said while he was on Cobblewood Lane dropping off a friend, as he drove off another vehicle came up on the side of his vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle started firing a gun into the victim's vehicle.

The victim was struck once in the left side with non-life-threatening injuries. He described the suspect as a light-skinned, black male. The vehicle the suspect was driving was described as a small two-door black Honda Civic

Authorities believe it's possible the suspect is the ex-boyfriend of one of the victim's friends.

No arrests have been made and JSO continues to investigate.
