JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The surgeon general is expected to give his daily briefing at 2 p.m. Monday afternoon. There are now more than a dozen cases in the Sunshine State.
Consumer Reports released the names of the most effective mosquito repellents on the market. One of the magic ingredients is DEET. Another ingredient is I-R 3535.

Zika can make you sick for up to a week with fever, rash, joint pain, red eyes, plus other symptoms. Pregnant women especially have to be careful. Consumer Reports has tested numerous repellents. The best ones are:

- Sawyer Fisherman's Formula Picaridin and Natrapel 8 Hour
- Off! Deepwoods VIII 8 hour
- Repel Lemon Eucalyptus 7 hour

Here's the best way to use them:
--Apply repellents only to exposed skin or clothing.
--Don't put it on under your clothes.
--Don’t apply it over cuts, wounds, irritated skin, or right after shaving.
--When putting it on your face, spray it onto your hands first.

All of these repellents will run you between $4.50 and $8.

Another simple thing you can do is wear long sleeves and long pants.
