3 killed in Northside hit-and-run crash

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – One of the three people who died early Sunday morning in a hit-and-run crash on the Northside was a young father.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said a BMW was traveling west on Duval Station Road, just off North Main Street, when it was hit by a newer-model silver vehicle that left the scene.

The BMW steered off the roadway, struck a tree and caught on fire. All three people inside died.

Tasha Schell and her family went to the scene to try and make sense of the crash that killed 23-year-old Kyle Cassani.

“We just want help to find out who these people were to know what they did. They destroyed the lives of a woman with a 7-month-old baby and all the rest of us,” Tasha Schell said. “That’s so wrong. You never should’ve did that. These people did not deserve that. You need to come forward and pay for your consequences or whatever you did even if you were drunk or whatever. You need to come forward and admit you’re wrong. Killing three people, please."

The road was blocked for four hours while JSO investigated this crash. Cassani’s car was towed away around 6 a.m., and the remaining the debris was cleaned up by a couple living nearby who wanted to make the sidewalk walkable.

Traffic homicide investigators said the car that caused the accident should have damage to the driver's side front end. Anyone with  with information about the crash is asked to contact the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office at 904-630-0500 or Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
