Deputies: Man shot someone, went to neighbor's house

Angelo Canevari, 26, jailed in Alachua County

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – A man shot someone then went to a neighbor's home while covered in blood, according to the Alachua County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to a home on SW 135th Place in Archer shortly before 3:30 a.m. Monday.

A woman called 911 after an unknown man, covered in blood, was yelling and banging on the door to her home. Deputies arrived to find Angelo Canevari, 26, in the front yard of her home.

Canevari told deputies he shot someone, but could not provide any additional information, according to ACSO. Deputies took him into custody and began searching the neighborhood for a victim.

Deputies found a home on that street with an opened door and went inside to see if anyone was there.

They found Lannie Geer on the kitchen floor unresponsive and lying in a pool of blood with significant injuries. Geer was taken to UF Health Gainesville where he remains in serious condition.

Authoriteis said a firearm and ammunition were recovered from the scene. 

Detectives charged Canevari with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and he was transported to the Alachua County Jail. 

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the altercation are still under investigation.
