The fire started near one of the columns on the exterior wall of Building 7, causing heavy smoke.

Fire crews had to open up the walls before the fire moved to the attic.

The battalion chief said there was a fire in this same building a few years ago.

He believes this is a popular spot where people leave cigarette butts and they catch fire in the mulch.

Two apartments have water damage but everyone else was allowed back in the building.
