Sushi restaurant temporarily closed after inspector finds roaches

Restaurant Report Card

JACKSONVILLE, Fla – Fusion Sushi on University Boulevard was shut down last week because of roaches. One of the three violations had to do with more than a dozen roaches.  The inspector found nine live roaches under the preparation table, five live roaches on a wall in the sushi area, and seven live roaches under the counter near the back of the reach in cooler.  The next day the inspector came back and there were zero high priority violations.   The bugs were gone and they were allowed to open back up.

Gandolfos New York Deli on Deer Lake Drive had four high priority violations. They had to throw out chicken, french onion soup, chili, and meatballls because they were held at the wrong temperature.  It was all too warm to be considered safe.   Gandolfos is due for a recheck within the next few months.

Hayashi Sushi Restaurant also on Deer Lake Drive was cited with six high priority violations. The inspector had to stop an employee from cutting broccoli with his bare hands, raw beef was stored over raw shrimp, and meat and seafood was checked at the wrong temperature.  Hayashi Sushi Restaurant is due for a recheck in the next few months. Last year two of the three inspections done at the restaurant needed follow up inspections.
