Man guilty in murder of man outside Jacksonville motel

Edgar Lee Macklin, 44, guilty of 2nd-degree murder

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was found guilty Thursday in a 2014 murder of a 49-year-old man.

According to the Office of the State Attorney, officers arrived to the Suburban Lodge on Phillips Highway in September 2014 to find Lloyd Williams dead on the sidewalk in front of one of the motel rooms.

An investigation found that Edgar Lee Macklin, 44, was with Williams the night of the murder at the motel.

Officials said Macklin got into an argument with Williams and shot him multiple times before leaving the area and leading police in a high-speed chase.

Macklin faces 25 years to life in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced the week of May 5.
