Candlelight vigil held for man fatally shot in Durkeeville
Family, friends burned candles in Tommy Guyton's memory
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A candlelight vigil was held Monday night for a man who was shot and killed in Jacksonville's Durkeeville neighborhood Saturday night.
Family and friends identified the victim as Tommy Guyton. They gathered Monday evening to release balloons and burn candles in his memory.
Police said they were called to reports of gunfire on Grothe Street, near Kings Road and Interstate 95, Saturday night, where they found the victim lying in the street. He was taken to UF Health, where he later died.
Investigators said it could have been a drive-by, or it could have been gunfire
Guyton's sister said she wants the killer brought to justice.
"I just really want somebody to tell me what's going on with my brother, why this happened. And whoever did it needs to come forward," Shantavius Guyton said.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
