Woman stabbed in neck taken to hospital

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An unnamed woman is in critical condition at UF Health at Jacksonville after being stabbed in the neck by a metal broomstick handle Saturday.

"It has a sharp end, about two to three feet long. There's some blood on the porch that we have to go through," said Sergeant Michael Paul, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Rescue personnel met with the victim and her boyfriend on their way to the hospital

"People in the house didn't want to wait on rescue," said Sgt. Paul. "They loaded the victim in the vehicle and took her to Shands (UF Health)."

Officials say the car met with rescue personnel at the Hendricks Boulevard and Atlantic Boulevard intersection.

Police are talking to witnesses and are questioning the boyfriend.

"We're sitting down with witnesses getting a full statement, then we'll talk to the boyfriend to see what his involvement was," said Sgt. Paul.
