Gov. Scott declares state of emergency in Orange County following deadly shooting

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Gov. Rick Scott issued Executive Order 16-142 declaring a state of emergency in Orange County following the deadly mass shooting in Orlando Sunday morning. 

Scott said he made the commissioner of Florida Department of Law Enforcement the chief point person for the state, and directed all state regional and local agencies, including LEOs, to coordinate with FDLE.

Scott said he is seeking assistance and coordinating with the federal government. 

The state of emergency will expire in 30 days, Scott said.
