Swimmer rescued from St. Johns River

Man got caught in the river currents

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was rescued from the St. Johns River downtown Monday afternoon.

He was swept into the currents while swimming near the Main Street bridge.

The man managed to haul himself onto some rock pilings.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department's marine unit responded to the call and rescued the man.

He was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
