Shoplifter pulls gun when manager confronts him, police say

JSO: Harvey's supermarket evacuated, would-be robber escapes

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Harvey's Supermarket off Edgewoood Avenue was evacuated Thursday morning after a man held a manager at gunpoint, according to the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office.

The manager told police the man had shoplifted from the grocery store before.

Police said the manager went to confront the man, and the suspect pulled a gun out from a duffel bag.

No shots were fired and no one was injured.

Police said the robber ran off while employees and customers evacuated the building

No description of the suspect was released.

Employees were allowed to return to the store, but it remained closed.

One employee standing outside the grocery store told customers the store would reopen at 11 am.
