COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. – A bicyclist was hit and killed by a car in Columbia County Thursday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Just before 5 p.m., Carl James Wiggins, 63, was crossing U.S. 90 near County Road 245 when he was hit by an oncoming car going westbound.

The driver of the vehicle and a 10-year-old passenger were not injured, troopers said.
Troopers said Wiggins died at the scene.
