UF Century Tower lights up for Orlando

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida lit up the Century Tower Thursday night to show their support for all those involved in the attack at Pulse nightclub in Orlando.

Rainbow colors lit up the tower beginning at 9 p.m. Thursday and will continue through July 1.

A unity ceremony will also be held at the tower at 8:30 p.m. June 28.

“Though the violence affects each of us in different ways, we gain strength when we reaffirm our bonds as people and share in our fundamental humanity. Thus, we join thousands of others in Orlando and throughout the nation to counter hatred with love, compassion, and unity among all people,” UF President Kent Fuchs said.

Cities around the world have lit up monuments to honor the victims of the shooting, including The Orlando Eye ferris wheel, the One World Trade Center in New York and the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
