Vigil held for teens who drowned in St. Marys River

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A vigil will be held Monday for two teens who drowned in the St. Marys River earlier this year.

Joshua Lewis drowned while swimming in the St. Marys River June 13th. Friends say they tried to swim out and get him, but he panicked, and quickly went under.

The Sheriff's Office has not confirmed Lewis' name, but told News4Jax that he was reported as a runaway from his home in Jacksonville.

Lewis' friend warn anyone heading to the river this summer to be careful.

Lewis was the second person who drowned in that area of the St. Marys River this year. Jacoby Clayton, 14, drowned there in April.

The vigil will be held at the St. Marys River boat ramp at 8 p.m.
