COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. – A 16-year-old bull rider was flown to an area trauma center Saturday after suffering severe facial injuries from a head-to-head collision with the bull he was riding, Columbia County fire officials said.
The young rider was competing in the inaugural Extreme Bulls and Barrels competition at the Columbia County fairgrounds.
According to fire officials, at around 9 p.m. the bull’s head collided with the young man’s head during his ride.
Onsite emergency personnel assisted the injured rider. Once his injuries were assessed, he was flown by an emergency helicopter to a local trauma center, fire officials said.
