UF warns about suspicious van near Fraternity Row

Female reported the driver followed her Sunday evening

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida issued a warning Monday morning about a report of a suspicious van on campus.

A female told campus police the driver followed her near Fraternity Road on Museum Road Sunday evening shortly after 6 p.m.

The van was described as dark teal in color and two males in their 20s were inside.

The UF Police Department wants to remind everyone of these safety considerations:

  • Report suspicious activities or individuals immediately by calling 911
  • Always be alert and aware of your surroundings, especially if you're wearing headphones and can't hear someone near you
  • If someone bothers you, don't be embarrassed to attract attention to yourself by yelling
  • Avoid walking alone if at all possible
  • If someone stops and asks for directions, avoid getting close to them
