Man faces 5 charges in October 2015 crash

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The man who turned into the path of a 35-year-old driver on Atlantic Boulevard last October was arrested Tuesday and charged with DUI manslaughter, possession of cocaine, possession of cannabis, driving with license suspended or revoked and failing to yield to oncoming traffic, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

After months of investigation, troopers filed the charges against Brian William Gomer, 43 in the October 16, 2015 death of Daniel Johnson, 35.

According to troopers, Johnson, 35, was driving east on Atlantic Boulevard at the intersection of Indian Springs Drive that evening when Gomer turned left into Johnson's path.

Johnson's car left the road and struck several large trees, according to the FHP report. He died at the scene.

Gomer was being held on $62,509 bond.
