JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 26-year-old man was sentenced this week to mandatory life in prison on charges of first-degree murder, armed robbery and armed burglary.

Carl Ezekiel Woods was convicted of the charges in May.

On October 19, 2014, the victim, Rolando Valencia, 35, was found dead inside of his home as a result of multiple gunshot wounds.

The investigation revealed that Woods went to the victim’s residence on the night of the incident. During that time, he robbed and shot Valencia three times before fleeing the scene.
