GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A 22-year-old man was killed this week in a motorcycle crash in Gainesville.

The victim, whose name was not released, was wearing a helmet when his motorcycle collided with a car on East University Avenue at Southeast 21st Street.

Witnesses told police that the driver of the car was headed westbound on University Avenue and attempted to turn left onto 21st Street when the car collided with the motorcycle. Witnesses said the motorcyclist had been weaving through traffic and accelerated to a high rate of  speed before the crash.
