JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police have made an arrest in Saturday night's fatal stabbing in the parking lot of a convenience store. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office charged Rasean Marcell with murder in the death of 25-year-old Jataren Bethel

Police said Bethel died at the hospital after being stabbed just before 10:45 p.m. outside at Century 21 Food Mart on Century 21 Boulevard, just off Atlantic between Arlington Road and Southside Boulevard.

Investigators were told there was altercation between Bethel and Marcell, which escalated to a stabbing. There were no details about the nature of the alternation.

"This is not a random murder; these two people are acquaintances," JSO Public Information Officer Melissa Bujeda said Saturday night.

Marcell was detained at the scene. Sunday evening, JSO announced her arrest.

The investigation is ongoing and more details will be forthcoming.
