Study: Duval County middle, high schoolers abstaining from sex

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – New research suggests more local middle schoolers and high schoolers are abstaining from sex, according to a survey from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The survey shows the number of Duval County middle schoolers who said they had sex decreased from 23 percent in 2009 to 13 percent in 2015.

The decrease was even larger for high school students in Duval County, dropping from 51 percent in 2011 to 37 percent in 2015, which is just below the national average.
