4 injured after car crashes into trees in Alachua County

1 ejected, seriously injured

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – Four minors were injured Sunday morning after a car crash in Alachua County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The car was driving north on County Road 1471 north of Southeast 73rd Street when the driver lost control as she approached a left curve in the roadway, troopers said.

The car of three passengers spun off the road.

FHP said after the rear of the car hit several trees, the car continued to spin resulting in a second collision with a tree on the passenger’s door side.

After the second collision with trees, the right front tire hit another tree.

One of the passengers was ejected from the car to the opposite side of the road, troopers said. She was taken to UF Shands hospital with serious injuries.

The driver and other two passengers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was charged with careless driving.
