Thousands attend 'Pokemon Safari' at EverBank Field

Jaguars open doors for exclusive access to EverBank Field Pokestops, gyms

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – About 10,000 "Pokemon Go" players registered for "Pokemon Safari" Monday night at EverBank Field.

The Jacksonville Jaguars and FanDuel sponsored the event, which they said was the first public "Pokemon Safari" inside a professional sports venue.

“We know that everyone has been all over Jacksonville playing 'Pokemon Go,' but have not had the opportunity to play inside EverBank Field. That’s why we’re opening up the stadium for our fans,” said Steve Ziff, the Jaguars vice president of marketing and digital media.

Players had access to exclusive "Pokemon Go" Pokestops and gyms inside EverBank Field for one night.

"They're having a bunch of fans of the Pokemon games come over and just hang out and catch a bunch of Pokemon," Jana Vann explained.

The event took players on a self-guided tour around the stadium and ended with a celebration on FanDuelVille.

The outdoor activity helped bring families together.

"This give us an opportunity to come out as a father and son and get exercise," said Andre Crawford, who attended the event with his son Zachary.

The first 1,000 people who completed the tour were given an exclusive gym badge.
