MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Authorities in central Florida are warning boat owners about a large amount of boat thefts from yards.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office said Friday the thefts are occurring in Citrus County, just over the Marion County line.

Thieves are stealing boats from yards and striping them.

The news comes days after a Clay County boat owner reported a stolen boat in Orange Park.

Authorities recommend owners keep their boat trailers secured with a locking device on the tongue.

If you see anything suspicious in the Marion County area, call MCSO at 352-732-9111.
