Someone who stole Christmas lights sends $50 decades later

Lights stolen from town in the 1960s

(LAKANA) – Someone who stole lights from a Michigan town in the 1960s sent an anonymous letter and $50 as a peace offering.

The town of Owendale, Michigan, received the letter in June. The writer said the incident happened when he or she was drinking in the '60s, The Associated Press reports.

The writer said the theft "bothers me more and more. Please forgive me."

The town plans to frame the letter and put the money in its general fund.
