1 dead in crash on I-95 near Old St. Augustine Road

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – One person was killed in an overnight car crash on Interstate 95 in Jacksonville's Southside. It happened about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 95 near the intersection with Old St. Augustine Road.

Alan Serrano, 30, of St. Augustine, died when his southbound Mazda crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. After the crash, Serrano lost control of the car and crashed into the right shoulder. 

The driver of the truck was not hurt.

Two southbound lanes of I-95 South reopened around 7:50 a.m., more than four hours after the crash.
