What do you see as the top three issues in this race?
1. Under our current leadership, we've gone from an A district to a B district and our rank has decreased to 20th in the State. Our children deserve better. Experienced educators leading our district would provide the knowledge to turn our school system around.
2. Over the past four years, our fund reserve has been below the 3% required by the State and our bond rating has been decreased twice. It is costing taxpayers more money to maintain our schools, and if this downward spiral continues, the State could ultimately take over our school system.
3. The morale of the Clay County School employees has never been lower. The School System has to be more transparent in working with its employees. Our teachers are our first-responders in the education system and we must collaborate to rebuild the respect that has been lost over the past four years.
How can you help voters in a way that others running for this office cannot?
My opponent has no education experience. With my 35 years of education experience as a teacher, and formerly as the Director of Admissions at the University of North Florida, voters have the opportunity to place an educator with integrity on the School Board.
What would you hope to be remembered for accomplishing after serving in this office?
Restore the reputation of the Clay County School System and level of achievement to an upward direction in comparison with the downward spiral it has taken over the past four years.
