Clay County races

The majority of the contested races in Clay County will be settled in the Aug. 30 primary, while a few have independent or write-in challengers in the general election that will keep the primary closed to Republican voters. Links are provided for candidates who responded to the News4Jax candidate survey.

Clay County Sheriff 

Rick Beseler is retiring and four Republicans are seeking this open position. Because there is no challenger in November, this primary is open to all voters.

Superintendent of Schools  

Independent candidate Rebekah Shively and a write-in qualified in the general election will keep this Republican primary closed to only Republicans.
