Candidate's family: Happily married for 31 years with 3 children
Occupation: Full Time Candidate
Education: High School graduate plus numerous courses taken thru the Florida Court Clerks and Comptrollers throughout the years. Management courses at UNF, and completed the Purpose and Responsibility of Courts training offered by the National Association of Court Managers
Political experience: 32 years as a deputy clerk. 19 of those years in management as the Chief Deputy Clerk, and nearly 2 months as the appointed interim-clerk for St Johns County
What do you see as the top three issues in this race? 1. Offices in Ponte Vedra and Julington Creek need to be reopened. 2. on-line services and response to view documents need to be improved. 3. Customer Service needs to return to a higher level. If employees can't do the job with a smile, they need to find another job!
How can you help voters in a way that others running for this office cannot? I would ask voters to do their research and visit my webpage at www.clerkgeorge.com. You won't believe the story! Despite my years of dedication to the Clerk's office, and 19 years of running the office as the Chief Deputy, and even though I was appointed the interim-clerk when Cheryl Strickland retired, Governor Scott appointed someone else as interim-clerk just 2 months after I was appointed by Chief Judge Perkins. Perhaps I am just not political enough for the Governor.
What would you hope to be remembered for accomplishing after serving in this office? I would like to be remembered for experience and commitment beating big money politics, and I would like to be remembered as the Clerk who dedicated his entire adult life serving the citizens of St Johns County.
