JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department battled a house fire Wednesday morning on the Northside.
According to JFRD, no one was inside the home on 9979 Orahood Lane when the fire began. JFRD reports the homeowners recently moved out which is why the home was empty. Firefighters were called to the home around 5:30 a.m. The State Fire Marshal was also called to investigate the cause of the fire.
Orahood Lane was blocked while firefighters worked to contain the fire. As a result, heavy backups were seen around 7 a.m. along Heckscher Drive, heading eastbound.
