JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 23-year-old motorcyclist was critically injured Friday morning in a crash with an SUV on Deerwood Park Boulevard, police said.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, the motorcyclist, whose name was not released, was headed east on Deerwood Park Boulevard just before 9 a.m. Friday when an SUV turned into its path.
The motorcycle hit the back right tire of the SUV, and the rider was thrown from the motorcycle onto the road. He was taken to UF Health with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the SUV, a 61-year-old woman, was not injured, police said.
Police were told by witnesses that the motorcycle's speed may have been a factor in the crash. Citations are pending.
