JACKSONVILEL, Fla. – The man accused of attempted murder in 2014 after an argument over money was convicted this week.

Leroy Loverin Meeks Jr., 25, was convicted this week of second-degree attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and shooting or throwing deadly missiles.

In May 2014, a man made arrangements to meet up with a woman at the Best Inn on Dix Ellis Trail in Baymeadows. While at the motel, the two of them got into an argument over money. When the man attempted to leave, Meeks came out of another room and began shooting at the him, striking his vehicle several times. Meeks then fled the scene.

Meeks faces up to life in prison as a habitual violent felony offender. He will be sentenced the week of Sept. 26.
