JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday arrested a man who was wanted by the FBI and New Orleans police in connection with a bank robbery and armed carjacking earlier this month.

Dwayne A. Winans, also known as “Butter,” 22, was wanted for the bank robbery of a Fidelity Bank branch in New Orleans on Aug. 4, as well as an armed carjacking on Aug. 12.

Officials said Winans entered a Fidelity Bank dressed as a woman and handed a demand note to the bank teller. After obtaining cash, police said Winans jumped into a gray four-door Honda with a getaway driver and sped off.

Just over a week later, police said Winans carjacked a couple as they got out of their car, demanding their keys.

Officials said Winans is also a person of interest in multiple robberies in the New Orleans area.

JSO arrested Winans Tuesday evening, and he is being held without bail.
