Man without license crashes into school bus

3 students on bus, none hurt

HOLLISTER, Fla. – A man driving with a suspended or revoked license crashed into a stopped school bus in Putnam County Wednesday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

It happened on State Road 20 at Rowland Avenue just before 8 a.m.

The school bus was carrying special needs students from Interlachen Elementary School.

Florida Highway Patrol said the bus driver was traveling eastbound on State Road 20 and had come to a complete stop. The driver activated the red flashing lights and stop arms in preparedness to pick up a child.

The driver of a Ford Escort, 35-year-old Gregory Napier, was approaching the bus from behind.

Troopers said Napier did not stop and struck it from behind, wedging his car under the bus.

Three students and the driver were on the school bus. None of them were hurt.

Napier sustained serious injuries in the crash.

Troopers said he will be charged with driving with license suspended or revoked and careless driving.
