Man surrenders in SWAT standoff in Gainesville

Trayvis Shaw wanted for armed robbery, fled before sentencing

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A wanted man surrendered to the the Alachua County Sheriff's Office after a standoff in Gainesville Thursday afternoon.

ACSO Warrants Bureau and SWAT barricaded Trayvis Shaw at the Gardenia Gardens apartments on Northeast 17th Street and Northeast 8th Avenue, deputies said.

Shaw was wanted for two counts of armed robbery. He was sentenced in June to 40 years in prison, but escaped from the Alachua County Courthouse before sentencing and had been on the run.

Deputies said Shaw has been taken into custody without incident.
