An official with the Florida Department of Transportation told News4Jax it happened around 10 p.m. and caused ten feet of one eastbound lane and feet of the median to crumble.

Traffic to U.S. 1 is being detoured to Lewis Speedway.

One eastbound lane remained closed Wednesday morning and DOT estimated it would be mid-afternoon until it was reopened.

It is unknown what caused the break or how many people were affected.
