Police: UF student sexually assaulted

Police say suspect is white male driving black vehicle

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gainesville police are investigating a sexual battery incident involving a female University of Florida student that occurred around 2:00 a.m. Saturday on NW 22nd Street.

The woman said she was walking home from the mid-town bar area when a white male, driving a black, unknown make/model vehicle pulled up next to her. She said the driver called her by her first name and offered her a ride. She accepted the ride and was driven to the area where the sexual battery occurred.

The Police Department advises to always be alert and aware of your surroundings. This is particularly true if you are wearing headphones and may not be able to hear someone near or behind you.
