Cyclist injured in Springfield hit and-run crash

Bicyclist hospitalized with life-threatening injuries

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A bicyclist was hospitalized after being hit by an unidentified vehicle in the Springfield neighborhood Saturday night. Police continue to search for the driver who left the scene.

Sunday afternoon the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says it believes a driver has been identified. JSO did not share any suspect information.

Police were called to the crash site at the intersection of North Market Street and East 4th Street just before 8 p.m. Saturday

The victim was taken to UF Health with life-threatening injuries. Traffic homicide detectives have not released any description of the vehicle. 

Market Street between 3rd and 4th streets, and 4th Street between Hubbard and Liberty streets were closed while police investigated.
