Labor Day travel up from last year, according to TripAdvisor


JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Labor Day travel is up 10% from last year, according to a survey from TripAdvisor. They surveyed more than 2,000 people.

60% of holiday travelers will be driving. 33% are flying to their destinations, that's up 6% from last year.

Of those driving, 18% will drive between 101 and 200 miles to reach their Labor Day destination. 11% will travel between 201 and 300 miles, roughly the amount of miles in a tank of gasoline.

According to the survey, the top Labor Day trips this weekend include:
1.     Enjoying the beach or ocean
2.     City getaway
3.     Lake escape
4.     Visiting a national park
5.     Resort retreat
