Detention deputy arrested on sexual assault charge

Alachua County: Donald Dixon detention deputy since June 2015

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – A detention deputy was arrested Thursday on a warrant for sexual assault on a victim 12-18 years of age and use of a computer to seduce, solicit or lure a child, the Alachua County Sheriff's Office said.

Donald Dixon, 34, of Gainesville, had been employed as a detention deputy at the Alachua County Department of the Jail since June 1, 2015, deputies said.

Alachua County authorities said the case originated with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. The girl has ties to Jacksonville and told authorities there about her involvement with Dixon. Jacksonville told the Alachua County deputies about the alligations on Sunday.

Authorities said there could be additional charges could be filed against Dixon on allegations of incidents with the girl that happened in Duval County.

Dixon was suspended after allegations came to light earlier this week. Deputies said Dixon's employment with the Alachua County Sheriff's Office has been terminated.

Bond was set at $350,000. The Sheriff's Office said additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.
