Middleburg day care abruptly closes

Parents scramble to make arrangements after Wee Care closes its doors Friday

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. – A day care in Middleburg abruptly closed its doors Friday, leaving parents scrambling to make other arrangements for their children.

Records show that the current owners of Wee Care Center are the sons of Rose Walton, who died years ago and her husband who died in November.

The current owners said the decision was best for the family and they have no other options but to close.

In a letter posted on a now closed Facebook page Wednesday, the owners of Wee Care said they called other centers in the area to help with the placement of children and staff.

"It takes a lot. You have to love children. You have to be able to listen to criticism without getting upset because parents only want what's best for their children. You want to have loving, caring staff members that care about the children as if they are their own. You've got to deal with so many officials. It's overwhelming what you have to do. But in the long run, it's worth it," said Julie Mallory with Kids World Child Care Center.

Wee Care has had no major violations and is in good standing with the Department of Children and Families, according to records.
