Man hospitalized after NW Jacksonville shooting


A man is recovering after police said he was shot Saturday night in Northwest Jacksonville.

Investigators said police received a call at about 7:45 p.m. about a man who had been shot. The caller said that person was at the Safari Food Store, near the corner of Lem Turner and Capper Roads.

As units were responding to the call, they received another call from a separate person saying they had shot someone a few blocks away on Capper Road. Investigators quickly realized the incidents were related. 

Police said the shooting took place at a home on Capper Road and the person shot was transported to the Safari Food Store.

Jacksonville police responded to the Safari Food Store and the man shot was taken to UF Health Jacksonville with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Police do not have any outstanding suspects.
