Tuesday on 4: 'Destiny, insider's story of how Jacksonville got the Jaguars'

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Getting an NFL team off the ground is almost as tough as connecting a Hail Mary pass. But where there's a will, there's a way.

This sleepy northeast Florida that sports reporters once laughed off proved its grid-iron grit after a years-long quest to land an NFL team culminates in the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Tuesday night on The Local Station, a documentary features insightful and revealing interviews about the bruising battle, you'll hear from those who were jockeying to get Jacksonville positive yardage, pushing to make this little big town's dreams come true, despite the dreadful odds against them.

Featured in the hour-long documentary:

  • Former Jaguars owners Wayne and Delores Weaver. Why Weaver, at one point, ended the quest to get an NFL team and the angst-ridden moments after he'd won the team, that he thought he had been mistaken.
  • Three-time Super Bowl winning coach Tom Coughlin and his nerve-wracking first impressions of working for a brand new franchise.
  • Two-time Super Bowl winner & five-time Pro Bowler Jimmy Smith and other NFL players. Why they say playing for the inaugural Jaguars team, despite the low expectations, was a high point in their careers.
