Police: Woman shoots husband for taking her money for drugs

Man driven to Clay gas station after shooting in Jacksonville, authorities say

A wife shot her husband in the leg Monday afternoon to stop him from taking money from her to go buy drugs, according the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

But the husband told police the shooting, which happened at the couple's home on Agnes Street on Jacksonville's Northside, was an accident, according to JSO.

The woman, Lindsay Costanza, has been charged with aggravated assault and is being held on $75,000 bond.

The police report said Costanza's husband took her purse so he could get money to buy drugs, and she pulled out her recently purchased handgun and told him to give it back or she'd shoot him.

He refused, and she shot him in the leg, police said.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office said it was called just before 3:30 p.m. after the man asked his wife to stop at the BP gas station on Blanding Boulevard while she was driving him to get medical help.

He was taken to an area hospital and is expected to be OK.
