Teen hospitalized in drive-by-shooting

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A 15-year-old was hospitalized Sunday night after a drive-by shooting at the Kanapaha Station shopping plaza, the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office said.

Around 8:15 p.m., deputies received a call that someone was shooting from a vehicle on Soutwest Archer Road.

Officers said they found a car in the plaza’s parking lot with bullet holes in it and a teenager inside suffering from a gunshot wound to the face.

The teenager was treated at the scene by Alachua County Fire Rescue and taken to UF Health at Shands for treatment. Officials said his condition is stable.

Officers said they were able to identify the shooter and SWAT units arrested 17-year-old Austin Gregory Dow shortly before 6 a.m. at his home.

He is being held on a $450,000 bond.
