Several Nocatee homes evacuated due to gas leak

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – About eight homes were evacuated as a precaution Monday evening due to a natural gas leak in the Nocatee area, St. Johns County Fire Rescue said. 

Several crews, including a hazmat team, responded just before 6 p.m. after a natural gas line was struck near Myrtle Brook Bend and Regal Willow Drive, Fire Rescue said.

Fire Rescue will be working with TECO technicians to resolve the issue. 

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office was called to direct traffic and people were urged to avoid the area.
