TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Floridians with policies through the National Flood Insurance Program have an extra 30 days to file claims stemming from Hurricane Hermine.
The state Office of Insurance Regulation announced Wednesday that the Federal Emergency Management Agency has extended a 60-day filing deadline to 90 days for National Flood Insurance Program policyholders making claims from the early September storm that swept through northern Florida.

"Given that Hurricane Hermine caused significant widespread flooding in impacted areas of Florida, FEMA is concerned that this (60-day) deadline may present an undue burden on policyholders," FEMA official David Maurstad wrote in a memo outlining the extension.
