Topgolf Jacksonville opens 1 day early

New golf entertainment venue near Town Center already in full swing

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Topgolf Jacksonville opened one day early, much to the delight of hundreds of people who came to get their game on at the new entertainment golf venue Thursday.

The new 65,000-square-foot venue on Brightman Boulevard, just east of the St. Johns Town Center and south of Town Center Parkway, was supposed to open Friday, but the staff said they just couldn't wait.

So instead, Topgolf Jacksonville announced on Facebook that it opened at 9 a.m. Thursday. Construction on the three-level entertainment venue began last October.

One of the managers told News4Jax that they already had people lined up, eager to get in and play.

"There's so much to do. You can watch football, you can play golf, hang with your friends. It's just great. It's a great atmosphere," Scott Littler said.

The competition was already heating up quickly Thursday night among friends, family and coworkers who all came to see what the venue had to offer.

"It's not just going to the driving range, kind of going through the motions. You get excited when you get a ball through one of the circles and get points," William Braswell said. "I think it just envelops a lot of things you do anyway. So if you want to golf, you can golf. If you want to drink, you can drink and eat if you want to eat and have a good time."

With the annual Georgia-Florida game just days away, the staff said they are bracing for visitors in town for the game and thousands of football fans who just want to get in on the golf action.

"It's actually better than I thought it was going to be -- way better," Littler said. "(It's) definitely something to do."

A single bay at Topgolf can handle up to six players and prices start at $25 an hour. This weekend, there will also be DJs playing on the outdoor patio and the Georgia-Florida game playing on the big screens.
