Teenager dies in Nassau County crash

1 seriously injured, 2 others suffer minor injuries

NASSUA COUNTY, Fla. – A teenager died and two others were injured Friday afternoon in a crash on Wedgewood Way in Nassau County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The driver lost control while traveling north on Wedgewood Way in a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with two passengers and ran off the road, striking a tree.

Devin Williams, 15, was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

Ryan Osborn, 17, suffered serious injuries and was taken to UF Health Jacksonville. Justin Tuten, 18, and Alexandria Shiver, 16, suffered minor injuries.

A neighbor who lives in the area said she saw the truck speeding down the road before the crash happened. She said it’s pretty common for teenagers to drive recklessly up and down her road, but it’s the first time she’s seen a fatal crash.

“I just saw them speeding down, and I just saw one kid in the back of the truck, and then when I got out here, the truck was over in the woods and my son was over on that side of the road. He said they were zigzagging and speeding,” the neighbor said.

The identity of the driver was not released.
